Students Living Within Our Catchment Area
Michael A. Kostek School is the designated school for children living in the following areas:
Jaimeson Place
Bridlewood
Hawkstone
Wedgewood
Children who will be 5 before March 1st, 2011, are eligible to enroll in kindergarten.
Registration will begin on February 1, 2010, at 8 am. Please bring proof of residency (driver’s license, Epcor bill or city tax notification with your address) and a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport.
Students Living Outside Our Catchment Area
Michael A. Kostek School is subject to enrolment guidelines. Presently we have set a cap of 460 students. Depending on the number of students in grades 1 to 6, we will be accepting approximately 60 students in kindergarten. The set number will be determined after the district’s process for determining where current students are planning on attending schools next year.
Our priority of placement for kindergarten will go to students living within our boundaries as set by the district. If space permits, our second priority will go to students living outside our area, but who have older siblings already attending our school. All other students can register; however, their names will go into a random draw to be conducted in May as spaces are available. Parents will be notified by phone whether or not their child has been accepted.
Please note that you can only register at one school. If you choose Michael A. Kostek, you cannot register at another school. Once you register here, your information will go into the district’s Student Information System and be held for the draw. Should you register at another school, your child’s information will automatically be withdrawn from our data base and your child’s name from our school’s lottery. Please know that you are guaranteed enrolment at your designated school even after the random draw and need not register there until after the draw. Registering here today does not guarantee placement at Michael A. Kostek, but it does guarantee your child’s name will be put into the draw.
